Redzone News & Forum RSS Feeds

August 13th, 2008

We’ve added RSS feeds for news items as well as each forum that you create for your league. There’s also a feed for all of the forums combined. See your browsers docs and/or use your favourite RSS reader to make use of them.

Enjoy!

I thought it was just candy, but it turns out Skittles is also a sport. You can now create Skittles leagues in Redzone, and because Bowling is a decedent of it we added that as well.

Got a sport that you need league software for? Let us know!

Dodgeball added to Redzone

July 23rd, 2008

We’ve added Dodgeball support to Redzone today.

There are tons of variations of Dodgeball, so we tried to keep it simple with the statistics. If you have a variation that you’d like us to support drop us a line and let us know!

Redzone Leagues has recently added kickball as a supported sport. The stats currently configured are basically the same as those used for softball, but if you don't want to use any of them, you can use the "Statistics Management" feature and turn them all off or select just the ones you want to use.

We've recently added the ability to customize the stats you use in your league.

Not every league tracks the same stats, so instead of cluttering up the interface with stats your league doesn't use, you can now remove them. Or if you would like to add some additional stats to the defaults provided, you can add stats from any of the predefined stats that are available.

To add or remove stats, click on the "Manage Statistics" link from the admin dashboard.

If there are some stats missing that you would like to add to your league, simply contact us via the support link and we'll do our best to add them.

Ultimate (Frisbee) Support

March 24th, 2008

Redzone Leagues has recently added Ultimate as a supported sport. Currently by default, no stats are tracked, but if you have an Ultimate league that does track some stats, let us know and we can add those to the site for you to use.

In our constant effort to make the registration process easier, we’ve added an additional feature to Redzone Leagues to allow a player to request a spot on a teams roster.

The way the original process worked was that a team captain would create their team and then manually add each player to the roster themselves. This works, and still works, but issues can occur when a captain doesn’t know a players name, or a user hasn’t registered yet in order for them to be added to the roster. If a user hasn’t registered then a captain would have to wait for a user to signup and then that user would have to notify the captain via email, phone, in person, etc. that they’ve registered and can now be added to the team roster… and this is where the signup process can become a bit too much work.

To improve the signup process, a registered user would now find their team (which must already be registered by their captain) and simply click a link on the teams profile page to request to add themselves to the teams roster. Once a request is made, the team captain will receive an email notifying them of the request. The captain will then visit their team page to view the request (along with any other outstanding requests) and with a click of the mouse, can either approve or reject the player for the team.

Enjoy!

Game Card Feature

November 13th, 2007

A game card feature has just been added to Redzone Leagues. The game card is used to help a referee, statistician, etc. to keep track of game stats for individual players during a game. Any game that has not been assigned a score will now display a link to a printable game card.

The game card contains the date, time, location, team names and rosters along with team colours and sections for game time-outs and scores.

This feature is aimed at providing something useful to as many leagues as possible, but may be missing some information for other leagues. If you feel something is missing or there are some problems that you are experiencing using the game cards, please leave a comment or post a message to the forum

Redzone Leagues New Website

October 19th, 2007

The Redzone Leagues website got a fresh coat of varnish today. The goal of the new layout is to provide new and existing users with information that is not only easier to find, but also presented in a cleaner, more polished fashion.

Like always, if you have feedback we’d love to hear from you!

New Forum Moderator Role

July 18th, 2007

Along with the existing user roles (league administrator, statistician, scheduler), we’ve now added a new user role for forum moderation. Any user assigned to this role has the ability to edit and delete users forum messages.

Previously a user had to be assigned the league administrator role to have the same abilities, which gave a user full control over all of the websites functions, which is not necessarily a safe option.

Moderate away!

Baseball Support Added

July 3rd, 2007

We’ve now added baseball to the list of sports supported by Redzone.

We currently have 3 variations set up, hardball, softball and slo-pitch; so if you have a baseball team, get your league up and running with Redzone today for FREE!

Location management has just been made easier with integrated Google maps.

You no longer need to upload an image for your fields, locations, etc. Enter the address of the location and we’ll find it for you (with the help of Google of course).

By clicking on map markers you can view the locations name, address and any other associated information.

You can find out more about the new location manager on the features page.

If you have comments, suggestions on this feature, please post a message in our forums, we’d love to hear from you.

We will periodically refresh all the data in the demo database so don’t worry about changing stuff. That’s what it’s there for!
